Christmas in NYC Pandemic
O Natal mais famoso do país sem o brilho dos turistas. Nova York e Natal é sempre sinônimo de multidão, turistas de toda a parte do mundo se esbarrando, Quinta Ave lotada. Coisas impossíveis de serem permitidas em uma pandemia. No ano de 2019, nos meses da época do Holiday - entre o Thanksgiving e o Natal, foi estimado um público visitante na cidade de Nova York em quase 7 milhões de pessoas.
Em 2020 esse público não vai existir. Imagina o impacto para a industria em geral, turismo, hotelaria, varejistas, restaurantes e etc. Infelizmente a época de maior lucro para os negócios nova-iorquinos não sera nem perto o que foi em anos anteriores.
A famosa Macy’s, continua mantendo a sua tradição de ser a primeira loja de departamentos de Nova York a exibir vitrines com temas, no ano de 2020 suas vitrines homenageam trabalhadores essenciais desta pandemia do coronavírus. O tema é “Give, Love, Believe” (Dê, Ame, Acredite).
A inauguração das vitrines neste ano veio seguida da parada da Macy's no Thanksgiving, que foi sem publico presencial devido a pandemia, porem transmitida para todo o país. Na parada do Thanksgiving a Macy's fez questão de destacar cada nicho de trabalho essencial e homenagear a grande estilo.
Rockefeller Christmas Tree também foi inaugurada sem público presencial, mas com o mesmo brilho que a vez tornar parte da tradição de Natal de Nova York desde 1937. Nesse ano de 2020 para visitar a árvore no Rockefeller Plaza é necessário agendar via o QR Code local, manter as regras de distanciamento e cada família terá apenas 5 minutos para apreciar aos enfeites e tirar fotos da Norway Spruce de 23 metros de altura vinda da cidade de Oneonta, New York. Essa árvore esta decorada com 50 mil lâmpadas coloridas de led e uma estrela de 408kg e 3 milhões de cristais.
Bairro tradicional italiano do Brooklyn, Dyker Heights é bastante visitado em Dezembro, cerca de 100 mil pessoas normalmente visitam as decorações de Natal do bairro. Dyker Heights Christmas Lights é um evento que acontece desde de 1982 e vem crescendo a cada ano com mais casas aderindo a ideia de trazer alegria através das decorações natalinas. A ideia se iniciou com a jovem Lucy que em 82, junto com seus pais, decidiu decorar não somente o interior mas também o exterior de sua casa, causando desconforto no bairro onde seus vizinhos ficaram incomodados com o constante fluxo de visitantes para apreciar as decorações. Ao longo dos anos, e com algumas discursões no meio, o bairro foi aderindo a ideia e se tornou um ponto turístico obrigatório durante o Holiday em Nova York.
Uma tradição não apenas de Nova York mas também mundial, a passagem de ano na Times square atrai milhares de pessoas que ficam horas a espera da contagem regressiva do final do ano e o Ball Drop. Em 2020, um ano diferente para todos, o réveillon na Times Square será restrito a transmissão da TV. O comitê de organização do réveillon na Times decidiu proibir o publico para garantia de que todos fiquem protegidos durante esse tempo de pandemia coronavirus. Desta forma a celebração sera 100% virtual, mais passando a mesma alegria e ideia de esperança de tempos melhores com a chegada de 2021.
